As the Copy Curator at Cranium, I led a team of writers that was working on the re-branding of packages for new and existing products.

I led the design of the website and created the content for an interactive, web-based and cell phone scavenger hunt for MobileSidewalk.com. See the main game page here.

As the senior writer on the Mattel Games Design team from 1997-2006, I worked on dozens of original and licensed games. I helped co-design the play experience of each product by writing the content, rules and packaging copy.

During my tenure, the Games team grew exponentially and had great success with core brands like Pictionary and Scrabble as well as breakframe ones like scene it?. Some of the games I helped develop can be sampled on the Mattel Gamefinder website.

PRESCHOOL GAMES
I proudly worked on Fisher-Price Games, focusing on the developmental benefits and
age-appropriateness of play; check this link to see the philosophy of those games on the Fisher-Price website. Click here to see a listing of some of the Fisher-Price games.

The Dora the Explorer Play Park Adventure game was a particularly successful merging of the popular Nickelodeon license with child-friendly play. It won the FamilyFun Toy of the Year Award in 2002.

KIDS GAMES
I helped revamp the classics Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots and Kerplunk as well as worked on contemporary licenses such as the Mary-Kate and Ashley brand.

FAMILY GAMES
Disney products top this category. From the massive success of Disney Trivia to the Disney scene it? game, I oversaw content development and design with this premier family brand.

I worked closely with the inventor, a family therapist, to develop appropriate content for Chatter Matters, a game that facilitates family communication.

ADULT GAMES
Throughout my time in Games Design, I worked closely with inventors to help develop and refresh brands such as Outburst!, Balderdash, Mad Gab and Blurt! I also led the development of the board game version of the show "Survivor."

I helped develop a new brand called Name Dropper. This game blended familiar play patterns with contemporary pop culture. See the Rules here.

We extended the Scrabble brand with a frenetic game that has timed and team play:
Party Scrabble. Click to see or download the package top. From the package bottom you can see the overall brand tagline, tone and manner.

A twist on the traditional drawing game, Pictionary Mania has garnered great response internationally. In addition to overseeing and play testing the content, I wrote the tagline, packaging communications and rules. Click here for the full game play description.

GAMES PR
I was one of three representatives from Mattel who went to the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee to moderate and promote the experience of game playing. We oversaw play sessions for thousands of festival-goers, as in this rousing round of Outburst!

I did my stint as a cover girl, when I was featured in the California magazine, OC Metro, as part of the story on “Unusual Jobs.” Representing Mattel Games, I gladly put on my game face to promote interactive play.
